We have an immediate need for a Sales Manager. The new position will focus on achieving specific revenue goals with existing clients as well as developing productive business relationships within with new clients. Candidates should have significant business development experience as well as experience in developing and managing commercial relationships within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. The ultimate responsibility of this position is to deliver on the revenue and profit objectives from new and existing clients. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct the necessary research and analysis, including acquiring and collating appropriate target market data, in order to identify potential new client leads.
Initiate and develop contacts with existing and potential clients. Establish and maintain influential relationships at all levels.
Understand existing and anticipated client needs and develop creative solutions (internally and externally) that include the company’s services and technology.
Prepare and conduct sales presentations.
Initiate proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
Serve as lead in a team when presenting products/services to existing or prospective clients.
Work closely with the senior and scientific management teams to deliver on client requirements and exceed client expectations.
Participate in the preparation of sales plans and campaigns, business plans and drug development services offer plans.
Take the initiative in determining the appropriate plan to accomplish objectives and to obtain internal buy-in, support and resources to execute the plan and lead the organization in the execution of the plan as required.
Stay informed of clients’ plans and strategies; integrate our company’s services into those plans.
Investigate new applications or improvements to our services.
Provide marketing intelligence to senior and scientific management and participate in the development of sales forecasts and strategies.
Attend exhibitions, conferences and trades shows as appropriate.
Monitor competitive activity.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate client interaction and sales records.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in one of the Life Sciences or related field.
Significant experience in sales and/or business development providing products and/or services to the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
Must be results driven with the ability to develop strong relationships internally and externally as well as have absolute integrity and strong influence and leadership skills.
Demonstrated outstanding communication and presentation skills.
A strong track record of success in creating new business, developing and maintaining senior level customer relationships and negotiating win-win deals.
Ability to travel 25% to 50% of the time.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE BACKGROUND:
An MBA or equivalent.
Five (5) to Ten (10) years of experience in sales and/or business development providing products and/or services to the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
Outstanding record of developing new clients/customers that adds significantly to company revenue stream and profits.
Significant sales/business development experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) focused on services for pharmaceutical drug discovery and/or development.
Significant project management experience within the context of a medium to large sized pharmaceutical organization.
