Program: In honor of Veterans Day, Wolfe Laboratories is proudly hosting its first site visit for veterans involved in the Veterans Upward Bound Program (VUB) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. This program provides a unique opportunity for men and women veterans of all ages to gain access to information about college and career awareness, acquire the academic skills required for entry into higher education and/or to acquire the equivalent of a high school diploma. During the site visit, students will learn how a scientific research organization operates and will be given the opportunity to meet some of the people involved in solving real life problems through application of science. Students will hear from Jose Torres, Director of Quality Assurance, about how he made his way from the military to a successful career in science. They will also attend a presentation by Michael Frid, Principal Scientist, to learn about the process of drug development from discovery to market.

The challenge for the sponsoring company then becomes identifying and selecting an ideal CMO partner for the project and managing the relationship to ensure the successful, efficient, and cost effective development of the drug candidate. This presentation will discuss some of the key points and issues related to selecting and working with a CMO, as well as other important considerations along the drug development pathway from declaration of the development candidate to the NDA filing.
