The Rotes Rathaus, meaning red town hall, is the town hall of Berlin. Some say that the red bricks represent a democratic spirit, but this has yet to be proven factual. The building was heavily damaged by Allied bombing in WWII and rebuilt to the original plans. Modelled on the Old Town Hall of Torun, today Poland, the architecture of the tower is reminiscent of the cathedral's tower of Notre-Dame de Laon in France.
