The Palazzo Comunale, also known as the City Hall, is the most important monument in the Piazza Unita d’Italia, or the Italian Unity Square. This square is the main square of Trieste and one of the largest in Europe. Built by Giuseppe Bruni in 1875, this beautiful clock tower features two bronze statues, which people call Michez and Jachez, derived from ancient Trieste folklore. If you look closely at the upper region of the photograph, you can just make out the bottom of their feet.
